Technique Tuesday ~ Layered Heat Embossing

Good Morning Happy Stampers!

I am so glad you decided to join us today at SSInkspiration!
Today we are bringing you a super fun technique!

Layered Heat Embossing.
What is this you ask?!

If you have ever used Versamark (or other craft/pigment inks), embossing powder, and a heat gun...you will LOVE this post!
If not, fear not, because it is a super simple technique to master.

First things first....grab your Versamark and your favorite embossing powders and stamp set and meet me back her in a second...don't worry, we'll wait...

Okay got them?

Step One:  Stamp your base image in versamark and then liberally apply your base embossing color powder.  Shake off the excess and use your heat gun to set the powder.
Tip #1:  use an embossing buddy or just a plain piece of paper towel to wipe your cardstock before stamping.  This will eliminate the static (which your Embossing powder will stick to!) and give you a better surface for your embossing.

Step Two:  ink an additional image with versamark (you can do this OVER your currently embossed image!!) and add the powder of choice.  Again, shake off the excess and heat set with your heat gun.

Tip #2 - Use your images in layers, so if you are doing a tree image, emboss the trunk/branches first, and then do the leaves on top to allow the leaves to cover the bark/trunk/branches

Step Three:  To add dimension and texture, reheat the current images, and sprinkle a different color embossing powder directly onto the image and shake off the excess...then heat set.
This will give your image dimension and color variance.
